The Control Group Hosts Mission Bay H.S. For Job Shadow

One of our favorite activities at The Control Group are job shadows. This is where we get to share what we do with the tech gurus of the future. This time, 20 students from Mission Bay High School were invited into our world at the Pacific Beach office.

Our CTO Shiem Edelbrock welcomed them with an introduction about himself and a little about TCG. Then, the students were ready to enter the TCG universe lead by developers Eric, Andy, Brian, and Mike, and Media Buyer Ramy. Groups of five students spent 15 minutes with each leader, learning about and working on projects hands-on.

After lunch, we hosted an ice breaking activity and  asked the students to tell us something unique about themselves and what they want to do in the future. We learned that we had a football star among us who is one of the top recruits in California.

Past job shadows and field trips have included students from O’Farrell Charter School and Herbert Hoover High School. We also head out to the various schools in San Diego and bring our knowledge to them. This gives us better insight into the tools available for the next generation of web developers, media buyers, designers, copywriters, and more!

The students walked away with brand new TCG backpacks and plenty of excitement about what the tech world could bring to them in the future. This was just a short visit, but we hope it was eye-opening for them. They can come back anytime!
