The Control Group teaches an Hour of Code at Hoover AOIT

The tech industry is one of the fastest growing fields in the world.

Careers in the tech industry pay 74% more than the average US salary.

Despite growing demand for jobs in the field, 90% of American schools do not teach computer science.

By 2020, there will be 1.4 million computing jobs, but only 400,000 computer science graduates.

So in honor of Computer Science Education Week, we joined forces with Junior Achievement of San Diego County and the Hoover High Academy of Information Technology. Our goals? To get code into the classroom. To inspire kids to pursue tech careers. To show them the opportunities programming knowledge can unlock.

Because together, we CAN bridge the gap and teach students how to code.

And we did.

“You guys inspired me to become a programmer one day.”

“All in all, this experience was one I’ll remember for a long time.”

“Thank you for the hour of code presentation. That one hour changed my life.”

Thank you to the TCG, JA, and AOIT teams for helping make a difference.
